Antimony Glyolate
High-Purity Catalyst for Polyester Production and Specialty Chemicals
Antimony Glyolate, as an efficient polyester polycondensation catalyst, has the advantages of high catalytic activity, fast catalytic reaction rate, high quality of produced polyester, and good spinnability
Product Overview
Antimony Glycolate is a specialized chemical additive for polyester production and other processes. It is a white, odorless powder that acts as a highly active, easy-to-handle polycondensation catalyst. In the PET industry, it dissolves well in ethylene glycol, allowing direct addition to the esterification/polycondensation process. Its high antimony content improves efficiency, as a smaller amount achieves the same catalytic effect. Unlike traditional antimony trioxide, it doesn’t introduce contaminants, ensuring higher-purity polyester suitable for fibers and food-grade containers.
Key Features
- Ultra-High Purity: ≥99.9% purity with minimal metallic impurities, ensuring reliable performance in sensitive processes.
- High Antimony Content: 56-58% Sb for strong catalytic activity, improving reaction rates and plant throughput.
- Excellent Solubility: Fully soluble in ethylene glycol and other glycols, ensuring uniform dispersion and efficient catalyst contact.
- No Added Impurities: Does not introduce contaminants, preserving polymer clarity and quality.
- Stable & Easy to Handle: Non-hygroscopic, odorless, free-flowing powder that is non-toxic and not classified as hazardous for transport.
Applications
Polyester Production
rimary catalyst for polyesters such as PET and PBT. It is added during polycondensation to manufacture plastic resins for bottles, fibers, films, and textiles, offering faster reaction times and improved polymer clarity.
Catalyst for Esterification & Polymerization
Facilitates esterification reactions and other polymer syntheses beyond PET, thanks to its strong catalytic activity in condensation processes.
Precursor for Antimony Compounds
Serves as a feedstock in synthesizing other antimony-containing materials (e.g., antimony oxide or antimony sulfide), by providing a soluble Sb source that can be converted in subsequent reactions.
Flame Retardant Systems
Utilized in the production of flame-retardant plastics and textile treatments, as antimony compounds synergistically enhance flame resistance. Antimony Glycolate can be introduced during polymer processing to incorporate Sb for flame retardancy in the final material.

FAQs for Antimony Glyolate
What is Antimony Glycolate used for?
It is primarily used as a catalyst in polyester production (e.g., PET), accelerating polycondensation for plastics like bottles, fibers, and films. It can also serve as a precursor for other antimony compounds and in flame-retardant plastics. Why choose Antimony Glycolate over Sb₂O₃ or other catalysts?
It offers higher solubility in glycols, higher Sb content, and better dispersion, leading to more efficient catalysis and a cleaner, higher-quality polymer with improved color and clarity. These benefits can also increase production capacity and reduce filtration needs. How do I handle and store this product?
Handle in a dry environment with PPE (gloves, goggles, dust mask). It may irritate eyes (H319) but is non-hazardous for transport. Store in a cool, dry place in sealed packaging to prevent hydrolysis or oxidation. What packaging sizes are available? Can I get a sample?
Available in 50 kg drums and 1000 kg jumbo bags. Smaller packs can be arranged. A sample (200-500 g) is available for testing; contact us to arrange shipment with SDS and technical data.Is your Antimony Glycolate compliant with international regulations?
Yes, it is REACH registered for the EU and complies with RoHS standards, containing no impurities above regulated thresholds. We provide necessary documentation for smooth customs clearance and a Certificate of Analysis for each shipment. Our facility is ISO 9001 certified for consistent quality and compliance.
